Prince Be

Prince Be, born Attrell Cordes on July 28, 1970, was a prominent figure in the hip-hop and R&B genres, best known as a member of the duo P.M. Dawn. Emerging in the early 1990s, P.M. Dawn blended hip-hop with elements of soul, pop, and new age, creating a distinctive sound characterized by melodic vocals and introspective lyrics. Their debut album, *Of the Heart, Of the Soul and Of the Cross: The Utopian Experience* (1991), featured the hit single “Set Adrift on Memory Bliss,” which showcased their unique style and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Other notable works include *The Bliss Album...?* (1993) and *Jesus Wept* (1995). Prince Be's influence extended beyond commercial success; he helped pave the way for a more melodic and emotional approach to hip-hop, inspiring future artists to integrate diverse musical elements into their work. His innovative style and thought-provoking themes contributed to the evolution of the genre, making P.M. Dawn a significant part of the early '90s music landscape. Prince Be passed away on November 17, 2016, but his legacy endures through his impactful contributions to music.
